First crochet projects finished...

Today is a cold, damp day here in my parts.  It even snowed last night to give us a dusting on the ground.  It's only suppose to be 40 degrees today.  Brrr, compared to the 68 we had Monday.  What a tease.  The weekend is suppose to be more of the same, so I am thinking that it will be a great weekend to just hang out, cuddle under blankies, read and most of all CROCHET !!!  Is there anything else to do on days like this.  No.

I had to show Em's little projects she was working on for her beloved Mr. Bunny and Blue Teddy (given to her by my Dad before he passed away).  She didn't want the two of them to freeze, so she made little blankies for them.  She did awesome if I must say.  I quickly found out during the making of these little gifts that Em is quite the perfectionist when making things.  We knew that from before but this time it was raised a few levels.  She wants to make a blankie for Brenna's little Moose next and then after that she wants to tackle a blankie for herself.  WOW !!!  Such ambition.  I am proud of her.  She has found out that quilting is not her thing and her blocks are being put on the back burner for now.  It happens, no big thing.

We could not leave little Moosey out of the pics, so Brenna got him a baby blankie to use for now.
I'm still plugging away at the ripple blankie, dreadfully watching some of my fav colors dwindling down.  I have learned that one of my favorite colors (red heart light fuchsia) used in the hexie and now the ripple is not made any longer.  WHAT !!!?  The nerve.  I will just have pull the chin up and keep plugging away.
I finally ordered the cotton yarn for the bag I want to make after the ripple.  Do you know how hard it is to find FAB, wonderful colors on one internet shop.  It just burns me up to see the color selection isn't very large to choose from once I pick which brand to use.  One day I will just have to break down and open my own yarn shop so that the choices are always there for me.  Dreaming again.  Anyhoo, yarn was chosen and a few books were bought with hopes of getting some new projects going after the bag.  The projects will be in some territory for me being that they will be some springy little things for the girls to wear.  In the past I have only crocheted/knitted warm things for them.  A bit excited though because I love to try new things with the crochet world.  And the knitting world even though I haven't touched my needles since the holidays.  I will share my loot with you when I get it all next week.  You know I will be checking to see if there is a package by the door everyday.  :)  I'm still waiting on your package Danette.  Nothing today.  Just two bills.  yippee.  I'll let you know the minute it gets here.  :D

Well, off the get the laundry put away.  Can you believe that I got everything washed yesterday and just left it sitting around in the basket.  Yes, there were a few things that went back in the dryer this morning for the de-wrinkle.  The girls are having a wee tea party with lunch at the moment.  I have to get moving on making soup for dinner tonight.  You have to go and get the recipe.  It is so absolutely AWESOME!  It's from a restaurant from back in the mid-west called  The Machine Shed.  I'm making their Bake Potato Soup tonight.  I don't ever serve it in bread bowls like they do.  It's still good just the same.  I usually add a half grilled sammy of sourdough, provolone & peppered turkey with it.  YUMMO !!!!  So good on cold days like this.  I usually make so much that we have left overs the next day.  Not a bad thing I tell you.  No sir.  It seems to get better the next day.  And then you drool at lunch time wondering if you should dig into it, knowing that if you did there won't be enough for dinner.  Absolute torture!  So if you try it, let me know what you think of it.  It's one of our fav's.
Well, off to see how the tea party is progressing.  I don't hear arguing, which can be both good and bad.  Hope everyone has had a FAB day so far and the evening is even better.  Stay warm!!!!

Toodles Noodles!   xxxxxxxx

  1. I love baked potato soup and your post reminded me we haven't had it for a while. Maybe this weekend would be a good time.

I am VERY impressed your daughter's crocheting. We do learn so much from our children when they take on crafts and music lessons, don't we? Suddenly things happen that quite surprise both of us, I think. Me AND the kid. ;)

  2. Congrats to Miss Em on her first projects. What a go getter, wanting to make a blanket. Before you know it she will be blogging about her projects. ;o I hate to fall in love with fabric and then can't find it anymore, so very disappointing. Can't wait to see your progress on the ripple.

  4. Hi Kar!
Tell Brenna her blankies are beautiful!!! I am very impressed. How old is she?
I love moosey and am glad he has a blankie until his new one is stitched up!
And about the favorite yarn color being discontinued ~ I HATE THAT TOO! Who do these people think they are?!
That happens every once in awhile with my lipstick also and you don't even want to know how I freak out on that one!
Also, I tried several times the other day to comment on your lovely post with the girls walking. I couldn't get it to go through.
Those girls are too darling!!! I especially love the picture with them walking single file. Tell hubby he did a good job!

  8. your daughter did an amazing job on her little crochet blankets, wow! compliments to her!

and i so relate to your frustration at not finding enough pretty yarn colors all in one shop. for my in-progress ripple i had to go with two different but similar cotton brands, i bought one yarn locally and the other online to get the range of colors.

hope you can find more of your light fuchsia yarn, if i see any here i'll let you know!

  11. Sounds like you are having a grey-almost-spring day like we are here today. It is not cold, but not warm enough to wander outside. So, crochet and cooking it is. I am also working on a cell phone project that has taken most of the morning. The learning curve! Ahhhh! Your little one is getting along quite well with her handiwork. Can't wait to see future projects. Hope you all have a wonderful, snuggly day! Liz
