Slowing down...

It just dawned on me over the weekend that October is nearly over.  Seriously.  I haven't even gotten into a serious hibernation mood yet.

This Fall just seems weird so far.  Flowers are still blooming and I'm trying to save them from frosty mornings just so I can still harvest their seeds.  Trees aren't turning color all at the same time.  It's like there is a bit of protest going on outside.  There is another quilt in the making with every scrap I have in my reserves.  The girls are hoping I have lots of scraps so they can have one made with the remainders.  Yard work is increasingly slower when you have two people that constantly get in your way with the piles of leaves.  Apparently the rule is that the leaves are not to be mulched with the mower just yet or at least not until certain people get to play in the new leaves that fell during the week.  So during mowing time I must take a break and clean up the flower beds, etc. while leaf playing commences.  At least until I start up the mower again and chase people off the grass.

The heater has only been turned on a couple of times already.  Mostly in the morning to get the chill out of the house.  Otherwise I am making everyone change over from Summer clothes to Fall/Winter clothes, in a hurry.  I'm still having a bit of a fit when seeing bare feet running around the house.  Especially when certain people start exclaiming that they are a little chilly.  Put some clothes on people. It's that easy.   I had been notified that we didn't not have enough rice bag warmers (?) for everyone to have their own.  So those were made one morning to keep everyone from freezing to death.  Now I have to go buy more rice for recipes.

Decorations were put up for Halloween.  Lots of spider webs lurking about.  We didn't go all out this year.  For whatever reason things were kept a lot simpler than past years.  I'm kind of liking it.  Just less items to put away afterwards.

The knitting and crochet bug has taken hold of me already.  I'm trying to squeeze in as much quilting time in during the day and balance it out with yarn time in the evening.  My project list just grew 1000% in the last week.

I'm just hoping things start slowing down more so that this whole season of Fall can be fully appreciated before it decides to speed out of here when we turn our heads.

  1. "Put some clothes on people. It's that simple." LOL! Definitely a mom moment. I seriously don't know how you can keep up with all those projects in your head. I think I would not be able to get anything done for thinking up so many wonderful items to make. Tell your girls to have fun with the leaves while they can. Happy Crafting!

  2. I love the shots of the girls romping outside. I've been quilting a lot lately and need to pull my knitting back out. I love all your photos, reminds me I need to start taking more photos.

  3. I too had to chuckle at your "Put some clothes on,People" comment. I have heard that a time or two and have uttered the words myself as well:)
