Early morning posies...

While it is still early in the morning,  I love to go outside and just sit in the cool air and enjoy all the sights, sound, smells of the new day.  Gentle little breezes, sweet smells in the air and pretty little melodies by the little songbirds in the trees and wondering around to see all the blooms around the yard.  It's a wonderful start to the day.

While I will never become an expert at all things flowery, I must give thanks to a couple of people for all the help and advice that has helped me with my love of flowers in the yard.

First is Julie whom I've known for over a decade, told me from the very beginning of our meeting "Just throw some seeds out there and see what happens.  Don't be afraid!"  Best advice ever, I swear.  Turned my world upside down with all the seeds that I just "throw" out in the yard now.  I have now been dubbed "crazy flower lady" in my neighborhood.  Love that.

Second would be Teresa, who has given me simple but wonderful advice on how to propagate flowers so I can have even more around the yard.  Buy a few plants at the nursery, take them home, cut a few snippets off, dip in rooting powder and pray they take root.  This is the first year I have attempted this and it it went well.  Oh the possibilities that are in front of me now.

Thanks to these two wonderful people I can continue on with my "Crazy Flower Lady" image and make it grow.

Spring love...

There are times when I let things get a little hectic around here.  Trying to do too many things in a very short period of time.  You would think that I would learn but I'm a slow learner when it comes to this aspect of life.  But at least I come around to realize my error and start looking at seeing and enjoying the simpler things in everyday.  Like the following little moments that happen around me in Spring.

*  I love when the hot air balloons start soaring about in the cooler mornings.  There is something about  where we live and the air currents just pull these little lovelies right across the sky over our neighborhood, just for us to enjoy.  It's even more wonderful when the pilot realizes that no matter how hard they try, they will have to land in the neighborhood, just a few houses down from us.

*  Cool nights mean windows can be left open.  Then when curtains are opened fully in the early morning hours you can find little visitors resting on the window screen.

*  Fragrant smells start coming from all the pretty little blooms popping up around the yard.

*  Pretty little blooms have the most amazing colors.

*  Little bees float around the yard collecting pollen till you think they can't fly any more but they still continue to collect because they just have to.

*  Little buckets on the fence are filled with plants so they can bloom soon with all their bright, beautiful color to stare at while I wonder in the yard.

*  The sun comes up earlier much to my liking so curtains can be flung open to enjoy all the lovely morning light.  And windows are opened fully to get all the wonderful fresh, cool air in the house.

I can't get enough of these simply little, important things.

Spring is in the air...

The weather has been absolutely perfect here in these parts as of late.  It seems that I try to find any reason at all to be outside enjoying the smells of lilac everywhere, the warm spring breezes and the sounds of bees finding all the bits of pollen that they can.  I just can't get enough of it all.  I even get giddy when the mornings are warm enough to have the windows open as soon as the sun is coming up.  I look for any possible way to be outside just to absorb it all in.

Hours were spent outside working a special blanket for a special little someone who is due to make her debut any day now.  Fun springy colors for a spring baby.  New pieces have been cut in the early morning hours for a quilt for my littlest.  Not that another quilt is needed.  But who cares.  Special fabric for a special girl.

And as the sun goes down in the evening I find myself standing in the kitchen looking out the window at all the changing colors outside.  I just can't get enough.  I just wait for the next morning when I can start it all over again.  Windows open, listening to birds singing, lilac perfume in the air.  It's just about near perfect.

Sprouts and blooms…

I just love walking around the yard, when the sun is starting to set,  to see all the pretty colors that are starting to show themselves off.  It's one of my favorite times of the day.
