Knitted wrist warmers & advent calendar

So last night I started a new pair of wrist warmers for another gift.  The yarn I am using is Mirasol Chirapa.  The color is Saffron Spice.  It is such a pretty color.  I can't wait to get working on a project with the Mars spirit I bought also.   I found the pattern on Cider Moon's website.  Their patterns and yarn look so awesome.  But on the main page of the website it says they are not doing business right now.  I emailed asking for info on when and if they will be doing business again because I think that their yarn colors are so pretty.  Hopefully they will sell their things again soon.  This is the first time I have ever done a pattern with YO so we will see how they turn out.  I had to rip out stitches last night because I forgot to remember to repeat the first pattern for 4".  It does help to pay attention and do what the pattern says.  Who knows what you would end up with! :)  I'll keep you posted!
Little Pinky Pie pony ended up with "candy" today.  Thank goodness it isn't real.  I don't need any more sweets.  I'm trying to be good until my Mom comes up next weekend and then we can indulge in the cookies, apple strudel, christmas strawberries, etc.  I'm glad to have her come up for the holidays.  One more week till Oma gets here.
On a more heartbreaking note, I would like to ask all of you to keep my friend Julie (in Houston) and her family  in your thoughts and prayers for they just found out the other day that her brother Nathan has a brain tumor.  The family is hoping that he can have his surgery in Dallas so that he can be near family so they can all help take care of him afterwards.  He is so young and this is so devastating for everyone.  Best wishes to a dear friends brother.  Our day hasn't been the same since we found out this morning.  We love you Julie!

Knit hat finished & advent goodies

So here is the hat that I finished this morning before any one got up.  Brenna's Moosey is modeling it
for me.The girls liked it so much that they want one now after I finish the gifts I want to make.
A knitter's list never ends. :)  At least handmade things are appreciated around here.  There are
only a select few that I make things for anymore because of comments that were made once things
were given to those it was made for.  Oh well, they are missing out, not me!  :)  I had to run back
down the hill to have the yarn, I bought the other day, wound up for me because I just grabbed the
bag and left the other day.  What a doofus!  So now I will be able to start a new wrist warmer
project tonight.  Cross your fingers that this new pattern works and I can figure it out.  And the
girls are coming over tonight too for knit night.  Should be fun.  We all have a great time and
Glenn and Brendon just laugh at us.  We laugh at them too! :)
So Pinky pie pony got her own stocking today from the calendar.  Quite exciting as you can
imagine.  I just hope the girls don't think that Santa will actually leave something in it.  They
squealed when they saw it this morning.  I'm still getting the eye about not being able to open
the chocolate calendar until after dinner.  Brenna is still thinking of ideas on why she would
need to open it early.  You must know that she is the chocolate"freak" in our family.  I have a
jar of M&M's in my craft room downstairs and she can hear me opening it from anywhere in the
house.  Even when I am trying to be quiet she can hear it upstairs.  Bat ears.  Has to be.  Off
to finish chores and get dinner in the oven so everyone can eat before the girls come over.
See ya!!

Please forgive the "typing" again.  I just can't figure out how things are going to end up when I play with the pictures.

Knitting? No, crafting with the girls!

So here is what the girls got in the advent calendar today.  Light stickers for the tree.  They both said that the lights should have come before the ornaments because that is how you decorate a real tree.  Obviously the "people" in charge of the ponies don't know that.  So some of the ornaments had to be taken off and moved for the lights.  I had to explain that the chocolate calendars will still have to wait until after dinner and that did not go over to well with Brenna.  I got the eye and a head shake.  I told her we were only doing the pony calendar early so that I could post what they got early in the evening and not late.  It really made no difference to her.  I still got a head shake.  What will the ponies get tomorrow?
So after lessons today, we crafted all afternoon.  They made melty bead ornaments and paper snowflakes.  My fingers are cramped!  Oh well, all in the name of Christmas and winter spirit!  It was fun to see them have so much fun.  Maybe tonight I can work on the hat because I have got to get going on the other gift.  TaTa for now.
