This week...

Not alot happening here except for school, normal daily stuff and painting.  Go figure that when we decided to jump on painting the house it wants to get all rainy on us.  Seriously!  Anyhoo, we are getting it done bit by bit.  Good thing we have some decent sized overhang areas on the house where we can get some painting done when it rains.  I'm really liking the two different grays we decided to go with.  So totally different than before and from the norm.  Especially for me.  I even had one neighbor ask me why we went with two different colors for the "main" colors.  I just explained that I don't want to be like everyone else and just have one main color and a trim color.  I'm a leader people, not a follower.  Can't wait to see the reactions to my front door color when that is all finished.  I'm so excited about that, I just can't stand it!!!

The only other major thing this week is that I totally screwed up a batch of chocolate chip cookies.  Really.  How does one do that?  Just trying to do too much all at once, doubling the recipe and then forgetting to double the flour.  Seriously.  I have talent coming out every where.  At least the thin, paper like cookies (if you can call them that) had lots of flavor.  Still pissed me off though.

This week...

  • I seriously think this week has been the most hectic in a long time.  It's kind of bothering me.  A lot.
  • I went and started another project.  I had to have something to work on while I wait at the library for the girls and their group stuff.  Sorry but there is only so much reading one can do and I'm caught up on all the current magazines there.
  • And no, the monster size quilt is not done.  It will still be a while.  Because...
  • Apparently, some where in my crazy little world, I don't have enough to do so I went and bought paint... wait for it... to repaint the house.  Seriously.  But the poor thing needs a good coat all over before it decides to pull up from the foundation and wander off in total disgust.  It may not be that bad but in my eyes it is.  I will have a cool colored front door when I'm done.  Now I must go and start scraping paint off.

This week...

  • This week has really pushed my buttons.  Had to deal with the insurance co. because the A/C was fried due to the lightning from last weeks storm.  Fabulous.
  • I was able to finish two very important projects that I have really put every spare minute into finishing with the last two weeks.  The blanket for Baby Evelyn and Tyler's sweater.  So glad they are checked off the project list.
  • Lots of time has been spent outside while working on recent projects.  Absolutely love these cooler temps where you don't sweat like a pig the second you walk out the door.  I so love my patio.
  • Went hiking today.  Didn't really want to go at first but I was glad I went.  Lots of stuff to see while exploring near the Idaho/Oregon state line.  Including dead stuff in a dry creek bed.  A tad bit gross.  And more rocks were brought home, again.
  • On the way home the check engine light came on.  I seriously nearly got sick.  I hate when that kind of stuff happens.  Just makes me want to scream.  After a few deep breaths and a call to my super master mechanic BIL, I think we resolved the problem with a little tapping on one particular part on the engine.  Apparently this stupid part is not a necessity in the vehicle running and it's sole purpose is to be a pain in the butt.  Great.  I was the one having to do the tapping because of small hands.  Of course the guys had to have a little fun at my expense.  With my hand down around wires, my dearest had to make a 'zapping' sound and scared the crap out of me.  I squealed in BIL's ear on the phone and both guys nearly pee'd their pants.  Gotta love brothers.  Yeah.  At least the check engine light went out and has not come back on.
  • Tomorrow I'm going no where.  Except for into my craft room.  I'm going to kick butt on getting the front of my monster quilt finished.  Everyone is on their own the entire day.

Yum!!!

Inspiration hit me the other day when the winds were blowing, making the day just perfect.  Fall is coming.  My favorite time of year.  A time of absolute happiness for me.

While enjoying all the beauty of the day, I was staring at the pile of tomatoes from the garden that were sitting on the counter, thinking of what I was going to do with them.  And the best idea ever hit me.

Tomato Soup!!!

I'm not buying the canned stuff anymore.  Homemade is so much better and so easy to make.

Now I just have to get my hands on all the tomatoes I can to fill the pantry up with lots of jars of soup.

This week...

-I finally sat down long enough to make my own stamp for labels that I like to put on quilts, afghans, and other things I make.  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.  Now I just have to find an ink pad with a color that a I really like, to make it even better.

-  I finished the baby blanket I was working on for a dear friends soon-to-be-here granddaughter.  More pictures of that when it gets mailed out.

-  We were at the library yesterday afternoon when the first of several storms rolled through our area.  I figured no big deal, I'll just sit and work on my knitting while I wait.  After the huge amounts of rain and the golf ball sized hail stopped, I gathered up my little peeps and headed back to the house.  Enough excitement for me.  More storms were on the way we were told.  Minutes after we got in the house the second round hit.  Leaves everywhere.  Trees bending.  Looks like someone took a weed eater to all the trees in the neighborhood.  But there was more to follow.  Luckily Hubby made it in the door when the third round hit with the strongest rain I've seen in many years (when I lived down South).  Lightning was everywhere.  We had some windows opened (under the patio) to get the cool air in and so we could hear the rain.  Then there was a bolt of lightning that hit so close to the house it sounded like a shotgun went off out on the patio.  It shook the entire house.  I'm not ashamed to say that I damn near pee'd my pants and squealed.  A few minutes later I could smell something burning.  Wires, insulation, wood.  But we couldn't see smoke.  Do you call the fire dept. and what do you tell them?  Hi, I'm a crazy lady that smells something burning but I don't know where it's coming from because there isn't any smoke that we can see.  Well, a half hour later fire engines were screaming down our street and around the corner only to stop a few houses down from us.  That bolt hit that house.  Scary!!!  Luckily no one was hurt and the majority of the house was saved.  I'm still not sure how the owner didn't know that the lightning hit her house and she was inside, upstairs.  ???    Very tense night here last night.  I didn't sleep well.

-  I have decided this morning that with all the excitement yesterday, that today and the rest of the weekend is to be excitement free.  I'm just going to enjoy the much cooler weather we have now and work on the poor little sweater I've been making great progress on here lately thanks to all the sitting time I've had at the library.  I just hope I didn't leave anything at the library yesterday when we left in a hurry.  Wouldn't that be just awesome.

-  I also think a big pot of soup is in order for today.
