Happenings...

Busy days have been the norm around here since the last time I stopped in.  It seemed like the days were going by faster than I could blink.

Someone turned 9 last week.  Nearly every moment of that day I was stopping and wondering where did the time go with this little bundle of spit fire.  She was asked what her favorite part of this birthday was and there was just one answer...  Everything!!  

That's my girl!  So full of life, happiness, adventure and stubbornness, all wrapped up in one little bundle.  She still wakes up every morning and exclaims "This is going to be the best day ever!".  Don't ever let that positivity go sweet girl.  It's a true blessing to wake up with that wonderful of an attitude every single day.

Enjoying root beer cupcakes on her special day.  The smallest little scoop of ice cream was added to the cupcakes after the candles were blown out.  Amazing how something so simple makes things over the top for a sweet little girl.

And as always, I had to look at pictures from days gone by just to see how much my littlest one has grown from just a few years ago.  There is a part of me that wishes that my sweeties could just stay little for a bit longer.

The rest of the time has been spent "playing" with our new toy out in the garden area.  It was brought home last Saturday evening and 9am the next morning everyone was outside putting it together.  Amazing how one little contraption can inspire everyone to get outside and try their hand at being green thumbs now.  At last count I think there were 50 different seeds planted once we got the little greenhouse put together.  It was a fun day spent with everyone.  Equally fun watching people get excited each morning to go see if anything is starting to sprout.  Happy to say there were a few teeny sprouts spotted yesterday.  Now I just have to figure out where all those plants are going to go when they need to be transplanted.

Pumpkin Pancakes...

Because even on a breezy, chilly Spring morning pumpkin pancakes can make the morning simply awesome.  So awesome that no one waited for the entire batch to be completely finished and just stood in the kitchen with their plates to eat their warm, spicy, buttery, syrupy cakes.

I love Sunday mornings that start out like this.

One has to love that and the creativity to no end.

Moments...

I woke up earlier than the rest of the crew this morning and took a moment to listen to the silence that was still in the house.  Rain softly coming down outside and everyone still wrapped in their warm quilts on this cool Spring morning.  I eventually convinced myself that it was okay to get out of the warmth of my blankets and start the day off in the quietness.  I eventually found myself in the craft room, opening the blinds, only to be greeted by my pretty tulips right in front of my window with a bit of sun peeking through the rain clouds.  Definitely a wonderful sight first thing in the morning.

But within moments the sun was covered by the clouds again, reminding me how fast things pass in life.

I pulled out the knitting I had started just the other evening, so I could enjoy what little light there was streaming in the window this morning.  Even if it were only for a few moments here and there.

That is how today will be.  Taking in the moments that will come to you ever so quickly.  Warm little hugs from those just getting out of bed.  Watching the rain fall outside while the flowers seem to enjoy their little bits of refreshment.  Snuggling in blankets and quilts this cool day while working on the ever so relaxing knitting.  Eating warm soup at the end of the day.

Enjoy what is in front of you during every moment of the day.  

That is what I will be doing.  And keeping a dear friend in my thoughts today.  Because she needs it no matter how far away she is.  Because I know she is remembering all those special moments in her life right now.

Spring color...

Seeing all the color that is starting to show itself around the yard puts a smile on my face.  Especially from my favorite mini tulips, no bigger than my thumb.  Love it!!!

River time...

You know it's been a long cold winter when within the last week you have find yourself outside 5 out of the last 7 days.  Two of them you were to be found down by the river just enjoying nature at its best. 

I so love having all of this just a couple of minutes from my house.  Just moving felt so wonderful.  I'm getting in all the rock bar explorations I can before water is released in a couple of weeks from the reservoirs.  Room must be made for all the snow melt.  Once it starts, there won't be any walking across the rocks until late summer.  I'm thinking another walk will be needed sometime this week.
